Meet Wendy Mendoza, Certified Holistic Health Coach & the founder of My Healthy Passions in Louisville Kentucky. She is a sweet, beautiful person and I was lucky to have the chance to photograph her. She has a new book coming out March 15th called 80 Raw, which has over 50 gluten free, processed sugar free recipes including smoothies & elixirs, salads, sides, main dishes and desserts. She also has her own demonstration kitchen build by her talented husband Marcos Mendoza of Buena Vista Construction. Take some time to get to know Wendy and her efforts to make Louisville live healthy.

1.In a nutshell describe what you offer.
I help women make healthy lifestyle choices so they can have clear vibrant skin and reach their weight loss goals without starving and depriving themselves.

2. How did you get into this field?

I started practicing yoga over 10 years ago and my interest in health just kept growing the more I learned about yoga and the more my body changed. However, a few years ago I developed adrenal fatigue and adult acne. That’s when I sought out all natural alternatives and found the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I enrolled to learn more about my own health journey and now I’m certified as a Holistic Health Coach and I’m able to help others. I learned so much in nutrition school. I thought I was really educated on all natural therapies, however I learned so many amazing things. Since then, I’ve continued mu education learning as much as I can. I’m currently getting certified in hormone balancing for women.

3. What do most people who come to you seek help with?

Weight loss is usually the first issue. Since I had acne issues, sun damage and pre-mature aging, I work with a lot of women to help them reverse these issues. I’ve learned so much about skin care and I love sharing this with others. Diet and supplements can dramatically improve the quality of your skin.

4. For our readers, what is one thing they could cut out of their diet or one habit that would help them live a healthier life? (If you want to list more than one…we would love your advice:-)
Sugar, it’s terrible for your skin and your health in general. This includes white sugar, bread and alcohol to name a few. It causes pre-mature aging. When people get off sugar, you can see a noticeable difference in their skin health. However giving up sugar is a tall order, so if this doesn’t seem possible right now, I’d start with one thing you can give up to start the journey.

5. Anything else you would like to add?
I want to encourage everyone to start thinking about their health now, don’t wait until something goes wrong. When you are healthy is the ideal time to take care of your health. What you choose to do now, creates your future.

6. What is your favorite indulgence?
Red wine and trips to Mexico where I can take an early AM walk on the beach.
