Rob and Cammie had a New Years wedding at the Icehouse in Louisville, Kentucky and selected Kylene’s Photography to document their celebration. I hit it off with this adventurous, fun and beautiful couple right away! We did an impromptu engagement session just a few weeks after meeting so we could get some awesome snow photos in the freezing cold! They were certainly game to do what it takes for a good photo and it showed on their wedding day since they braved the cold for some remarkable shots! Everything came together beautifully and I can’t think of a better way to ring in the new year than with people as amazing as Rob and Cammie.
Cammie reminisced about her favorite part of the wedding day. “I lost my dad to cancer a little over 7 years ago. Since that day, I had imagined what my wedding day would be like without him in it. A daughter’s wedding without her father is difficult and emotional. I had no idea of how the loss would impact me until the day actually came. As my heart fluttered just before the doors of the church opened, I remember my mom standing right beside me, arms linked, sending me courage, strength, and composure. We moved down the aisle and I smiled at the family and friends on either side of us until I was close enough to see Rob at the altar. In this moment I knew that both my mother and my father would no longer hold the largest place in my heart. Rob would. The magnitude of emotions in that instant was so overwhelming and I couldn’t help but cry. During the service, Rob and I lit nine candles for loved ones that we had lost. Rob’s dad played Amazing Grace on the flute for the congregation as I thought of my dad. I felt a sense of peace. It was a thoughtful fusion of my past, present, and future. My heart filled with warmth and that feeling will endure the test of time, encapsulated as a vivid memory through Kylene’s beautiful photography.” These heartfelt words are why I truly love my job and weddings will never get old. Getting to be a part of these moments in people lives is such an honor.
Another all star team to make this wedding come together! I had my main lighting ninja, Dustin Alton Strupp, and his girlfriend Hannah Elizabeth with us, who did great for assisting at her first wedding! This was an evening wedding so we had to be on our game and prepared to light many of the images. I can’t stress enough for brides to make sure your wedding photographers are skilled at ALL lighting situations regardless if your wedding is outdoors during the day. Big thanks to Dustin and Hannah and all the vendors for making this wedding come together beautifully. What a way to ring in 2017!
